The text runs: "Around a rose-wreath, go to the garden to dance, around the rose-wreath five girls please go out! The first one to go out is Shoshana, the second one to go is Hana, the third to go is Bat-Sheba, the fourth to go is Elisheba and the fifth? Who would like to go? Shulamite would like to go". According to the instructions, five girls dance in a circle, and then more girls are called to make a larger circle; the children dance in two circles, after which one circle departs to the right and the other departs to the left.
The melody is a foreign tune in a major key, a well-known European children's song that has many titles.
