ד' זכרנו | Adonay zekharanu (Tehilim 115: 12-18) | The Lord Remembers Us (Psalm 115:12-18) (1912)

Artist: Abraham Zvi Idelsohn (1882-1938)

This piece was composed by Cantor Wolf Shestopol (1832-1872). Shestopol composed music based on Western harmony and combined Eastern and Western European cantorial styles. The beautiful melodies he composed later found their way to the Yiddish Theater. His compositions for the synagogue were published in 1889 and 1900.

Adonay zekharanu is traditionally performed on Jewish festivals and special occasions.  The melody is set for solo and a two-voice choir.
