Hebrew translation (PDF)

The text of this song was published in Ha-Zamir [The Nightingale] (Odessa, 1903: p. 1), an anthology of children's songs edited by Noah Pines (1871-1939). Idelsohn opened Sefer Ha-Shirim with this song.

Ba-halomi” presents a child's dream. In the dream, angels stand at the foot of the child’s bed and sing lovingly to him until morning comes, at which time the angels fly away and the child awakens: "fresh, pure and happy".

Idelsohn (Ben-Yehuda) composed a melody is in a minor key and ¾ time, which recalls a dance.
