The text, written by Noah Pines, editor of Ha-Zamir, was published in the second volume of Ha-Zamir (Odessa, 1903: p. 13).

In Imi, a young boy who lives with his loving mother meets an orphan child. As the orphan tearfully mourns the loss of his own mother, the fortunate child asks God to watch over him.

Idelsohn (Ben-Yehuda) composed the melody in a minor key.
